Nutrient Dense Eating

One thing I like to remember to eat healthfully is to keep my food nutrient dense. That means that even if I am cooking soup out of a can, I try to add my own ingredients- extra spices, a pinch of seaweed, etc. The more nutrient dense your overall diet, the easier it will be to manage your weight and keep yourself healthy. Here are some tips:
  • add more spices and herbs when you use packaged foods
  • put lemon or lime in your water
  • use chopped, fresh herbs as a garnish
  • top salads, soups, sandwiches, and stir-fries with sprouts
  • add vegetables wherever possible
  • have fruit for snacks
